NAWBO is creating history this year! NAWBO is celebrating its 35th Anniversary. To help celebrate this event, the NAWBO Minnesota Chapter has combined the Achieve! Awards event with the Connections event. The Achieve! Awards event will take place on April 16, 2010. NAWBO-MN will continue to hold another Connections event in October, 2010. Watch for more information on the October Connections!

The day will start with a mid-morning business showcase, where you’ll see, meet and greet hundreds of women in business (display space available). Keynote Speaker: Betsy Buckley
 Founder of three companies (two of which she’s successfully sold), Betsy had four rather distinct careers before becoming her own boss. While still in her twenties, Betsy ran eight prisons and 87 county jails as Deputy Commissioner of the Minnesota Corrections Department and rebuilt inner city slums and created jobs across America as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for City Venture.
For the past twelve years, Betsy has owned and run What Matters, a professional services firm that helps business owners and professionals grow their revenues and their reputations. Her business strengths are focused on growth, both top line and bottom line.
In addition to undergraduate degrees in Economics and Education, Betsy completed graduate work in Urban Economics and Urban Planning and is also a graduate of executive education programs at The Wharton School and the University of Southern California. She received her advanced executive coaching certification at the prestigious Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara ( www.hudsoninstitute.com), where she developed skills in guiding behavorial change, especially as it relates to business growth. A nationally acclaimed professional speaker and winner of the prestigious National Speakers Association President’s award, Betsy is well known as a practical business executive.

 Cyndi Lesher is the retired president and CEO, Northern States Power Company-Minnesota, an Xcel Energy company.
Lesher was appointed chair of the Governor’s Workforce Development Council in 2004 by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. In 2003 she was inducted into the Women’s Economic Roundtable, comprising of the top 100 women leaders in Minnesota.
CityBusiness magazine named her among the Twin Cities' most innovative women. In 2007 she received the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal’s Lifetime Career Achievement Award. She was selected by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce as 2008 Woman of the Year.
